  After the excellent news we just received that our community was going to be the recipient of millions of dollars of state funding to help secure local open space, the Town Council would like to suggest, with Eveline's enthusiastic support, that participants in the garage sale on May 16th consider using the community-wide event to raise funding to help pay for the significant costs that were associated with making that grant happen.

  So if you were planning to participate anyway, would you consider donating some or all of your proceeds to the Elfin Forest/Harmony Grove Town Council, earmarked for the Rural Preservation Fund?  If you were not planning to participate, would you consider perhaps getting together with some friends or neighbors and organize a quick garage sale just to donate the funds to the Town Council?  And of course you can make a donation at any time, garage sale or not! 

  All donations are fully tax deductible. Let's see how much money we can raise when we all decide to all pitch in!  Special thanks go to our neighbor Eveline Bustillos for organizing this event.

  Wildfire Awareness Week
  Each year CAL FIRE (and your local Fire Department)  urges residents of the importance of preparing for wildfires during Wildfire Awareness Week. This year, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared May 3-9 Wildfire Awareness Week, to remind Californians to be vigilant as the state approaches peak fire season and to highlight the importance of the homeowner’s role in preparing their property ahead of time to survive a wildfire.
  
  This year’s Wildfire Awareness Week theme is centered on the idea that fire protection is a team effort, “You provide the DEFENSE, We provide the OFFENSE.” The first part of fire prevention starts with homeowner’s creating 100 feet of Defensible Space around their homes.
