TOWN COUNCIL – COMMITTEES


Town Council Board members address issues that are of importance to the community by creating committees in which residents are invited to serve and keeping the community informed on the progress made by the committees.


CURRENTLY ACTIVE COMMITTEES:


OMWD Pipeline Committee.

Committee Chair: Nancy Goodrich..
This committee was responsible for working with the OMWD on minimizing the impacts of a project that will commence in fall of 2011: The construction of a new water pipeline under Elfin Forest Road. The committee led the mitigation process and worked closely with the community to address the communities concerns to the OMWD.


Communications Committee.

Committee Chair: Jacqueline Arsivaud-Benjamin.
This committee is responsible for managing the various communications vehicles: the Chaparral newsletter, the facebook page, the website as well as ongoing PR Work as needed.


Equine Ordinance Committee (EOC).

Committee Chair: Bonnie Baumgartner.
This Committee formulated Elfin Forest’s position and recommendation to the County Staff on the planned new Animal Use Regulation for San Diego County, and will continue to monitor the project as it progresses.


Fourth of July Committee.

Committee Chair: May Meintjes.
This committee is responsible for the organization and planning of the annual Fourth of July Parade and Picnic.


General Plan Committee.

Committee Chair: Melanie Fallon.
This committee is interfacing with County Staff and Planning Groups to ensure that the interests of Elfin Forest and Harmony Grove are taken into consideration in new San Diego County General Plan, which has been in the works for over 10 years.


Trails Committee..

Committee Chair: Bonnie Baumgartner.
This committee is responsible for planning of and implementation of trail maintenance and the creation of new trails within our community. The committee also raises funds to help achieve these objectives.


Welcome Committee.

Committee Chair: Minoo Sohaey.
This committee is responsible for welcoming new residents to the area. A committee member will visit a new resident and provide a welcome basket with useful information. All new residents are welcome to approach the Committee Chair with any questions about the community.


Community Clean Up Committee.

Committee Chair: Minoo Sohaey.
This committee organizes Community Clean up days.


Conservation Committee.

Committee Chair: Jacqueline Arsivaud-Benjamin.
The purpose of this committee is to work with outside agencies to acquire sensitive habitat within our community to be preserved for perpetuity.


Harmony Grove Meadows Committee.

Committee Chairs: Amy Molenaar and Melanie Fallon.
The purpose of this committee is to ensure that if this project is ever built that it meets the goals of our community.


University Heights Committee.

Committee Chair: Melanie Fallon.
The purpose of this committee is to monitor a project that would span over 500 acres from the North East of Elfin Forest all the way to Harmony Grove. At this point (summer 2011) the project appears dormant.
